Key data from Dumfries & Galloway

In the last 12 months to the 31 December 2017 we supported 7 employers and 72 individuals dealing with redundancy.

As of 29 December 2017 there were 955 apprentices in training.

From 1 April 2017 to 29 December 2017 we supported 620 Modern Apprenticeship starts.

The Modern Apprenticeship achievement rate in Dumfries & Galloway is 77%.

From 1 April 2017 to 31 December 2017 we delivered 9,410 Career Information, Advice and Guidance engagements for 4,796 people through a mix of group and one-to-one sessions.

From 1 April 2017 to 31 December 2017 3,498 people have registered on myworldofwork.co.uk.

From 1 April 2017 to 29 December 2017 we funded 143 Employability Fund starts.

From 1 April 2017 to 31 December 2017 our Employer Engagement team has provided skills advice to 40 businesses.

The 2017 Annual Participation Measure showed that of the 6,225 16-19 year olds in Dumfries & Galloway 92.5% were in education, employment or training and personal development.

Supporting business in Dumfries and Galloway

We help local employers in Dumfries and Galloway make sure they have the right skills now and in the future by providing support and advice on skills, talent development and funding.

In the last 3 months our Employer Engagement team has provided:

  • Skills advice to 40 companies
  • Support for 41 companies and 29 individuals to complete the Certificate of Work Readiness

In the last 12 months we also supported 7 companies and 72 individuals dealing with redundancy.

Supporting partners in Dumfries and Galloway

We work closely with schools across Dumfries and Galloway, supporting the My World of Work aspects of the School Partnership Agreements. Your local Partner Development and Integration Executive can help with:

  • Delivery of the successful My World of Work School Ambassador programme
  • Raising awareness and building capacity amongst teachers to use all the online resources available, including the recently developed Lesson Inserts
  • Developing new Lesson Inserts. A simple way to link the curriculum with careers

We’ve also organised update and awareness sessions amongst other local partner organisations to embed My World of Work into their services. This has included working with Dumfries and Galloway College, to ensure that My World of Work is placed firmly at the heart of their organisation.
