Key data from Dumfries & Galloway

In the last 12 months to the 30 June 2018 we supported 12 employers and 541 individuals dealing with redundancy.


As of 29 June 2018 there were 916 apprentices in training.


From 1 April 2018 to 30 June 2018 we supported 88 Modern Apprenticeship starts.


The Modern Apprenticeship achievement rate in Dumfries & Galloway is 67%.


From 1 April 2018 to 30 June 2018 we delivered 3,313 Career Information, Advice and Guidance engagements for 2,007 people through a mix of group and one-to-one sessions.

From 1 April 2018 to 30 June 2018 we funded 50 Employability Fund starts.


From 1 April 2018 to 30 June 2018 our Employer Engagement team has provided skills advice to 6 businesses.


The 2018 Annual Participation Measure showed that of the 5,869 16-19 year olds in Dumfries & Galloway 92.2% were in education, employment or training and personal development.


Supporting business in Dumfries and Galloway

We help local employers in Dumfries and Galloway make sure they have the right skills now and in the future by providing support and advice on skills, talent development and funding.

In the last three months our Employer Engagement team has provided:

Supporting partners in Dumfries and Galloway

We work closely with schools across Dumfries and Galloway, supporting the My World of Work aspects of the School Partnership Agreements. Your local Partner Development and Integration Executive can help with:

  • Delivery of the successful My World of Work School Ambassador programme
  • Raising awareness and building capacity amongst teachers to use all the online resources available, including the recently developed Lesson Inserts
  • Developing new Lesson Inserts. A simple way to link the curriculum with careers

We’ve also organised update and awareness sessions amongst other local partner organisations to embed My World of Work into their services. This has included working with Dumfries and Galloway College, to ensure that My World of Work is placed firmly at the heart of their organisation.
