Key data from East Lothian

In the last 12 months to the 31 December 2018 we supported 2 employer and 41 individual dealing with redundancy.


As of 28 December 2018 there were 764 apprentices in training.


From 1 April 2018 to 31 December 2018 we supported 426 Modern Apprenticeship starts.


The Modern Apprenticeship achievement rate in East Lothian is 75%.


From 1 April 2018 to 31 December 2018 we delivered 5,557 Career Information, Advice and Guidance engagements for 3,253 people through a mix of group and one-to-one sessions.


From 1 April 2018 to 31 December 2018 2,408 people have registered on


From 1 April 2018 to 31 December 2018 we funded 67 Employability Fund starts.


From 1 April 2018 to 31 December 2018 our Employer Engagement team has provided skills advice to 17 businesses.


The 2018 Annual Participation Measure showed that of the 4,183 16-19 year olds in East Lothian 94.7% were in education, employment or training and personal development.


Supporting businesses in East Lothian

We help local employers in East Lothian make sure they have the right skills now and in the future by providing support and advice on skills, talent development and funding.

In the last nine months our Employer Engagement team has provided:

  • Skills advice to 17 companies

Supporting partners in East Lothian

We work closely with schools across East Lothian, supporting the My World of Work aspects of the School Partnership Agreements. Your local Partner Development and Integration Executive can help with:

  • Delivery of the successful My World of Work School Ambassador programme
  • Raising awareness and building capacity amongst teachers to use all the online resources available, including the recently developed Lesson Inserts
  • Developing new Lesson Inserts. A simple way to link the curriculum with careers

We’ve also organised update and awareness sessions amongst other local partner organisations to embed My World of Work into their own services. This has included working with East Lothian Works to ensure that My World of Work is placed firmly at the heart of their organisation.
