Skills Development Scotland Diane Brooks Sds Park Circus028

Parents and carers have a key influence on the choices their young person makes.

Careers advisers are there to help so that parents and carers can feel confident in supporting their young person make important decisions in their career journey.

Option choice events

In S2 or S3, whichever year option choices takes place, careers advisers attend parent and carer engagement events that focus on option choices.

One-to-one

Parents and carers also have the opportunity of a one-to-one with a careers adviser. This could be attending the option choice one-to-one with their young person and careers adviser. Or, it could be at a separate time that is more convenient.

The offer of a one-to-one allows the parent or carer to receive tailored support in line with their individual needs and the needs of their young person.

To find out more about the arrangements for these one-to-one discussions in your  school, it is best to get in touch with the school directly.

There is also a dedicated parent and carer area on our website, My World of Work with lots of useful resources and information to help parents and carers with career conversations.
