Parents have a key influence on the choices their child makes.

Careers advisers are there to help so that parents feel confident in supporting their child make important decisions in their career planning journey.

Subject choice events

In S2 or S3, whichever year subject choice takes place, careers advisers attend parental engagement events that focus on subject choices.

This is to support parents to help their child consider their career management skills and make informed decisions.

One-to-one

Parents also have the opportunity of a one-to-one with a careers adviser. This could be attending the subject choice one-to-one with their child and careers adviser. Or, it could be at a separate time that is more convenient.

The offer of a one-to-one allows the parent to receive tailored support in line with their individual needs and the needs of their child.
