New location for the career service in Aberdeen
Residents in Aberdeen are set to see some changes to the career service in the area
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is changing location as part of a drive to help more people through partnership working in community and partner venues.
SDS advisers offer free, impartial career information, advice and guidance for people of all ages in secondary schools, centres and community venues across Scotland.
From Monday 26 October, SDS will be meeting customers at a new space in North East Scotland College (NEScol), Aberdeen City Campus, Gallowgate, Aberdeen AB25 1BN, which is just over half a mile away from the current Union St location.
Customers will also be able to meet the team at community hubs throughout Aberdeen, Aberdeen Central Library and Greyhope Community Hub.
Nicola Graham, SDS Area Manager explains: “Our advisers support people of any age looking to get into work, change career, upskill or reskill, or re-join the workforce after a career break.
“Our team in Aberdeen will continue to provide professionally qualified careers advice in our new home in the Aberdeen City Campus of North East Scotland College (NESCol), which is modern and accessible with good public transport links.
“We’re excited at the prospect of continuing to deliver exceptional levels of service to residents in Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
"Locating our team within North East Scotland College reflects our commitment to partnership working and provides a modern, accessible base from which to continue supporting people with their learning, training and career ambitions. Alongside our new location at NESCol, we will continue to work with partners across the city, including Aberdeen Central Library, local libraries and Greyhope Community Hub, helping make career services accessible within local communities."

Linda Taylor, Assistant Principal Student Services, NESCol, said:
“The co-location of SDS at NESCol reflects our shared ambition to provide accessible, joined-up support for people across the North East. By bringing our organisations closer together, we can strengthen the link between careers advice, skills development and learning opportunities, helping individuals access the right support at the right time. This partnership will enhance our ability to support people of all ages as they explore their options, develop new skills and progress towards their education, training and employment goals.”
Jane Gibson, SDS Aberdeen Team Leader added:
“We are delighted to be delivering our career guidance services from our new base location within NESCol. From Monday 26 October, we will continue to support people of all ages to make informed decisions about learning, training and work. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new location. Anyone wishing to contact the local SDS team can call 01224 285 200, Monday to Friday, between 9.00am and 5.00pm.”
