New home for careers support in Clydebank

Residents in Clydebank are set to see some changes to the career service in the area

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is changing location as part of a drive to help more people through partnership working in community and partner venues.

SDS advisers offer free, impartial career information, advice and guidance for people of all ages in secondary schools, centres and community venues across Scotland.

From Monday 2 November, SDS will be meeting customers at a new space in West College Scotland’s Clydebank Campus, Queens’ Quay, Glasgow G81 1BF.

Customers will also be able to meet the team at community hubs throughout the Clydebank area including Clyde Shopmobility in the Clyde Shopping Centre, and The Hub Community Education Centre on Kilbowie Road offering greater opportunity of access for our customers across the area.

Helen Jackson, SDS Clydebank Team Leader explains: “Our advisers have been building excellent partnership links within the community which has allowed us to make our support more accessible to our customers.

"We are really excited to be able to take this a step further in our new home in West College Scotland's Clydebank Campus where we will continue to provide professionally qualified careers information, advice and guidance, supporting people of all ages who are looking to get into work, change career, upskill or reskill, or re-join the workforce after a career break."

Helen Leslie, Vice Principal Learning, Skills & Student Success at West College Scotland says:

"Having Skills Development Scotland embedded within each of our campuses represents a significant opportunity to strengthen the careers support available to people of all ages and stages in our communities.

"Through closer partnership working, we can make it easier for people to access advice, guidance and learning opportunities. It also creates valuable opportunities for SDS and college staff to work side by side, share expertise and deliver a more joined-up experience for learners across our communities."
