Andrew is a serving constable in Police Scotland’s Retail Crime Taskforce and based in Glasgow. During the episode he talks about the very current issue of retail crime, which has been regularly reported in national media in recent months. He goes on to explain the satisfaction he gets from the role, helping and protecting business owners and their staff in the city centre.


There is also insight into Andrew’s previous pre-policing job roles, which helped him develop his work-ethic before he realised a desire to pursue a more personally fulfilling career.
Coming from a family of police officers, Andrew drew inspiration from his parents own routes into policing. He explains how he used their experience to stay motivated when applying to Police Scotland and shares essential advice to any listeners considering a career as a police officer.
Andrew shares his advice on the skills, characteristics and mindset required to join the police and then forge a career within the various branches of the force.
