SCQF Surgeries – Apprentice Transition Plan (ATP)

These surgeries will provide further information and support for assessors delivering the ATP service. The ATP service has been developed to help redundant apprentices to the next steps in their career journey. Learning providers delivering the ATP service must ensure that assessors complete the mandatory webinar and e-learning modules before attending the surgeries. These surgeries have been developed to answer any questions arising from the training and support assessors in delivery of the ATP service. Topics will include:

  • Collection of appropriate evidence.
  • Completion of a technical statement
  • Deciding on the appropriate benchmark for an individual skill
  • Deciding on an overall benchmark level
  • Other topics can be covered according to need.

If you are delivering ATP, you will receive communications relating to these surgeries. If you would like more information relating to the ATP service or have any questions, please see our ATP webpage or contact

Mentoring female apprentices in STEM sectors

SDS has teamed up with West Lothian College and Equate Scotland to offer training providers and employers the opportunity for a half price place on the ‘Train the Trainer Mentoring Women in STEM Apprenticeships’ programme (SCQF Level 7).  The programme helps organisations to effectively support and retain female apprentices within their workforce.

This qualification covers areas such as good practice and resources for mentoring as well as unconscious bias and gender awareness in order to build an understanding of what women working in STEM environments might experience.  Upon successful completion, candidates will gain a recognised qualification and the organisation has a sustainable model for mentoring.

Candidates must be able to commit to:

  • Complete the training sessions on 23rd, 24th, and 25th February (0900-1030 each day), as well as approx.. 4 hours work in their own time.
  • Producing and deliver a training presentation (using Microsoft Power Point).  This is required as part of the assessment.
  • Being able to identify mentors within their workplace to undergo training.

SDS is part-funding the February sessions so places will only cost £90 per candidate (usual cost is £180).  We may limit places on these sessions to 1 or 2 per organisation, but you can sign up for future dates at the usual cost.  If you are interested, please email Daniel Evans at West Lothian College,
