Making subject choices: group sessions

Our sessions help young people to develop the skills they need to make informed decisions

The choices we make in school are often where we take the first steps in our career journey.

We want to help all young people develop the skills needed to make confident decisions that will lead them to jobs suited to their talents, interests and goals.

Our careers advisers support young people in S2 and S3 who are about to make their option choices by facilitating group sessions.

These sessions progressively build career management skills so that  more informed option choices can be made

The sessions:

  • Promote the development of career management skills

  • Prepare young people for key decision making

  • Challenge traditional gender stereotypes within certain jobs

  • Explore the wide range of career routes and pathways available to them

  • Introduce them to the My World of Work option choices tool.
