SDS Gaelic Language Plan 2025-28 consultation
A public consultation is underway regarding Skills Development Scotland's (SDS) draft Gaelic Language Plan 2025-28, focusing on how they can support the Gaelic language and culture in Scotland.
SDS is committed to the support and development of the Gaelic language and, as a national public body in Scotland, our role in contributing towards the recognition of Gaelic as an economic and cultural asset for everyone.
The consultation seeks input on SDS commitments and actions to promote Gaelic within our sphere of influence. This aligns with the Scottish Government's National Gaelic Language Plan and the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005, which aims to increase the use, learning, and positive image of Gaelic.
This will be SDS’s fourth edition of the plan, building on experience of implementing previous plans and containing ambitious activities for SDS in the future.
The plan proposes a formal structure for our support of the Gaelic language, reflecting a strong commitment throughout SDS to see Gaelic thrive. It covers areas such as increasing the use of Gaelic in SDS's work, promoting Gaelic learning, and fostering a positive perception of the language.
It continues to demonstrate our organisational commitment to:
- Increase the use of Gaelic
- Increase the learning of Gaelic
- Promote a positive image of Gaelic.
Those responding can read the draft plan in both English and Gaelic.
