Lantra is the Sector Skills Council which supports skills and training for people and businesses in the land-based and environmental sector.

They cover 16 occupational areas grouped around:

  • Land management and production
  • Animal health and welfare
  • Environmental industries

The game and wildlife industry includes everything to do with the management of upland, lowland, woodland and wetland game and wildlife species, including partridge, grouse, pheasant and deer. The industry also supports tourism and recreation.

LANTRA has developed a Modern Apprenticeship in Game and Wildlife Management to support the skills needs of the sector in Scotland.
