Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the gas, power, waste management and water industries.

Onshore wind energy has established itself as a mature, clean energy generating technology and has been the world's fastest growing renewable energy source for the last seven years.

This trend is set to continue with falling costs of wind energy, energy security threats and the urgent international need to tackle CO2 emissions to prevent climate change, which is also driving a significant expansion of offshore wind.

EU Skills has developed Modern Apprenticeships in Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance and Wind Turbine Installation and Commissioning to support the industry in Scotland.

Framework details

Qualifications in the framework were extended to 2017 (as at October 2015)

Wind Turbine Installation and Commissioning at SCQF Level 6 was de-approved December 2016 due to lack of uptake.

More information about the industry can be found on the Energy and Utility Skills website.
