Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has achieved Investors in People Gold accreditation.

IIP benchmarks the effectiveness of leadership and management practices and is an internationally protected trademark which only accredited organisations have the exclusive right to display.

Carolyn Anderson, Director of HR at SDS, said: “Research shows that organisations accredited against the IIP Standard outperform industry norms. It is the first time we have applied for IIP accreditation, having achieved Gold level Investors in Young People in 2018, so we are delighted to have been recognised for our efforts.”

Remarkable, the organisation responsible for delivering IIP accreditation in Scotland, took time to assess our strategy, culture and working practices, and in addition to desk research, invited more than 80 colleagues throughout Scotland to be interviewed.

Assessors recognised a number of strengths:

  • SDS colleagues feel valued, trusted and recognised for their achievements
  • Staff have easy access to development opportunities, particularly within leadership, and are constantly encouraged to enhance their skills
  • The organisation has high levels of colleague engagement
  • Employees are listened to and their feedback acted upon
  • Customers are at the heart of SDS’s behaviours and decisions
