Scotland's first apprentice convention is set to take place in November.

Hundreds of apprentices from across the country will gather at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC).

Attendees will hear from inspiring speakers, gain invaluable new skills through training workshops and connect with other apprentices from all over the country.

Scotland’s Apprentice Convention on Thursday 8 November aims to create a sense of pride and community among apprentices whilst directly supporting their ongoing development as professionals.

The convention – by apprentices, for apprentices – is being delivered by Skills Development Scotland and supports Scotland's Year of Young People.

The free event will bring together Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprentices from across the country, reflecting the range of apprenticeships now available in Scotland, including digital, financial services, engineering and health and social care.

This event is a great chance for apprentices to see where work-based learning can lead; and for employers to give their apprentices the opportunity to further develop their skills.

Katie Hutton, Skills Development Scotland Director of National Training Programmes

Skills Development Scotland Director of National Training Programmes, Katie Hutton, said: "Apprenticeships in Scotland have changed.

"The options open to young people through apprenticeships and the career prospects offered by work based-learning have never been better.

“The Year of Young People is the ideal time to hold Scotland’s first apprentice convention by apprentices, for apprentices.

“This event is a great chance for apprentices to see where work-based learning can lead; and for employers to give their apprentices the opportunity to further develop their skills.

“I encourage apprentices to register now for the event, and ask employers to give their apprentices the opportunity to attend.”

Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprentices can register to attend Scotland’s Apprentice Convention here.
