Skills Development Scotland (SDS) today publishes its latest guidance for employers – the Employer’s Guide to Recruitment: Support Your Employees.

This latest publication forms part of a series of guides to help employers achieve a more diverse workforce, focusing on different aspects of the recruitment process.

The newest addition to the guides focuses on how to support and retain staff once they start a new role. Practical tips include what an organisation can do to offer support on day one, the benefits of a buddy and mentor, as well as a list of useful contacts.

The guide was created in response to an recommendation from the Equalities Engagement Group, part of the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board (SAAB), made up of industry leaders from across different sectors in Scotland.

The other guides include useful advice and key information on subjects like: how to find and attract talent; creating a job description and advert; shortlists and interviews and funding and support.
