Day four saw the launch of the Centre for Work Based Learning - a partnership between Skills Development Scotland (SDS), Strathclyde University, Robert Gordon University and Heriot-Watt University. The Centre aims to establish the value of work-based learning in the education and training system as well as championing the contribution it can make to increasing productivity and supporting inclusive economic growth.

The Big Apprenticeship Event took place in Inverness at the new Inverness Royal Academy.

The free event was a great opportunity for employers, young people and parents to find out more about apprenticeships. As well as hearing directly from apprentices, apprentice employers and training providers, attendees were able to experience hands-on activities and workshops with SDS advisers.

The first Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) Employer Business Breakfast took place in Glasgow with employers and apprentices sharing their experiences of work based learning. Skills Development Scotland Regional Partnership and Delivery Manager Graeme Hendry joined employers such as BT and AXA Insurance at the event which aimed to inform employers of the benefits of investing in Foundation Apprenticeships.
