Key data from the Outer Hebrides

In the last 12 months to the 30 September 2018 we supported 1 employers and 34 individuals dealing with redundancy.

As of 28 September 2018 there were 207 apprentices in training.

From 1 April 2018 to 30 September 2018 we supported 65 Modern Apprenticeship starts.

The Modern Apprenticeship achievement rate in Eilean Siar is 79%.

From 1 April 2018 to 30 September 2018 we delivered 1,160 Career Information, Advice and Guidance engagements for 664 people through a mix of group and one-to-one sessions.

From 1 April 2018 to 30 September 2018 235 people have registered on myworldofwork.co.uk.

From 1 April 2018 to 30 September 2018 we funded 19 Employability Fund starts.

From 1 April 2018 to 30 September 2018 our Employer Engagement team has provided skills advice to 3 businesses.

The 2018 Annual Participation Measure showed that of the 1,039 16-19 year olds in Eilean Siar 97.6% were in education, employment or training and personal development.

Supporting business in the Outer Hebrides

We help local employers in the Outer Hebrides make sure they have the right skills now and in the future by providing support and advice on skills, talent development and funding.

In the last six months our Employer Engagement team has provided:

  • Skills support for three companies

In the last 12 months we also supported one company and 34 individuals dealing with redundancy.

Supporting partners in the Outer Hebrides

We work closely with schools across the Outer Hebrides, supporting the My World of Work aspects of the School Partnership Agreements. Your local Partner Development and Integration Executive can help with:

  • Delivery of the successful My World of Work School Ambassador programme
  • Raising awareness and building capacity amongst teachers to use all the online resources available, including the recently developed Lesson Inserts
  • Developing new Lesson Inserts. A simple way to link the curriculum with careers

We've also organised update and awareness sessions for local partner organisations across the Islands to embed My World of Work into their services. This has included partners delivering employability services to ensure My World of Work is place firmly at the heart of what they deliver.
