Here you'll find information on FIPS access, user licences and technical specification.

FIPS User Access

Accessing FIPS for the first time? Use these guidance materials to complete the MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) and password setup on your account:

New Users

The user request forms below should be used to request FIPS access. Guidance is included in the form - requests should be emailed to FIPS@sds.co.uk.

Password & MFA Resets

If you have a FIPS account and require a password reset or MFA reset, submit a Help Form to request this. Resetting the MFA on an account will enable the user to update their contact details attached to their FIPS licence.

Technical specification

To maximise the benefits of FIPS, users must have the minimum technical specification.

FIPS Licensing

FIPS is a cloud-based Microsoft product which will always have the latest features available providing best value for SDS and its customers. It also requires an annual licence fee for each user.

In recognition of the impact COVID-19 has had on all our operations, SDS waived the licence charge for the use of FIPS for the year from April 2020 until March 2021 and will continue to waive the charge until 30 June 2021. The cost of the FIPS subscription will be £208.89 for the period 1st July 2021 to 31 March 2022 (£23.21 (£19.34 plus VAT) per user per month).

We will be collating the number of FIPS users to allow us to invoice for the period of July 2021 to March 2022. This will be based on the numbers we currently hold for each Training Provider. Any changes required should follow the agreed User Request procedure and be advised by Friday 28th May. Providers will have up to 3 months to make the payment.

If there is a change of staff Training Providers will be able to effectively exchange a licence for a different user without additional charge (as the total number of overall licences will not be increasing) by notifying SDS of the changes using the FIPS User Request Form – In Year Additions and Amendments form.
