Training for Work

What is Training for Work?

It's a vocational programme for anyone who is 18 or over and has been unemployed for at least 13 weeks within the last 52 weeks. Training for Work offers vocational training and work experience, helping people to get sustainable work or even start up their own business.

How does it work?

We want to help people get training and work experience that's linked to the work and jobs market in their area. Training is offered across an impressive range of occupations, delivered by an extensive network of training providers. See what training's available on our national learning opportunities database. Please note you must enter 'Training for Work' in the subject field of the course search to obtain the most relevant results.

How much does it cost?

A trainee is paid a training allowance, which is equivalent to their benefits, plus another £10 a week.

I would like to take part, how do I get involved?

First, the training provider will talk with you about your background and work history to establish the best way of helping you back into work. Your local Jobcentre Plus can give you full details about what training is available locally.
