Through Skills Development Scotland, the Scottish Government allocated £4 million this financial year (2009/2010) to offer a grant of £1,000 for all employers that take on an apprentice of any age between 11 January and 26 March 2010.

This incentive was therefore available to support a maximum of 4000 apprentices. Given the great response we have had to date from employers to this offer, applications for this grant closed on Friday 5 February.
