Our board

Members of the Board are appointed by Scottish Ministers and have a collective responsibility for the proper conduct of SDS affairs. They are not appointed as representatives of individual organisations and are expected to use the experience and knowledge gained in their own careers when taking decisions on the SDS's behalf. The members are drawn from a range of backgrounds in the private and public sectors.

  • John McClelland CBE - Chair

    John has extensive experience across the private and public sectors. In addition to being our Chairman, John is also Chair of the Scottish Funding Council and NQC Ltd.

  • Damien Yeates - Chief Executive

    Damien has over 16 years' experience in economic and social initiatives in Glasgow. He was previously Chief Executive of the Scottish University for Industry and the Govan Initiative.

  • Martin Togneri

    Martin Togneri has considerable senior level experience in the private, public and higher education sectors.

     

  • Anne Douglas

    Anne became National Officer of the Engineers and Managers Association in 1994. In 1999 she was part of the pilot group of the Norfolk Charitable Trust Programme.

  • Keith Howell

    Keith Howell has over twenty years of private sector experience, having held Finance and Management Executive Director roles within the industrial and construction sectors. .

  • Dr Janet Lowe CBE

    Dr Janet Lowe enjoyed a successful 30 year career in further and higher education, including 10 years as principal of Lauder College, Dunfermline (now Carnegie College), before joining us.

  • Prof Alan McGregor

    Alan McGregor is Director of the Training and Employment Research Unit (TERU) and Professor of Economic Development at Glasgow University.

  • Paul McKelvie OBE

    Paul McKelvie has held senior positions within the private sector having served as Director of Scottish Power Learning and Corporate Responsibility Director between 2000 and 2007.
