Equality Scheme 2010-13

Report Summary

Skills Development Scotland's Equality Scheme explains in detail how we plan to comply with the new October 2010 equality legislation. Our Equality Scheme demonstrates our aim of going beyond compliance and providing examples of good practice in equality within the public sector

Cross cutting everything we do is our commitment to equality of opportunity.  In our role as a service provider, we are committed to taking practical steps to ensure equality of access for all of our customers.  We are also committed to promoting equality in our capacity as an employer, as a buyer of services and in how we work in partnership with others.  This commitment, and our contribution to tackling inequalities in Scottish society, is incorporated in our performance framework.

We intend to go beyond the requirements set out in the Equality Act 2010 and aspire to be a leader in equality within the public sector.  We plan to create innovative and meaningful approaches to promoting equal opportunities which can be used as examples of good practice within other organisations.

The Equality Scheme is also available in an Easy Read version.
