Modern Apprenticeships and Skillseekers
employee training is geared towards helping employees aged 16 to 19
to gain invaluable industry recognised accreditations, including
SVQs and NVQs.
Skills Development Scotland understands that staff development
can benefit your business enormously, so we're happy to help you
source vocational training for your employees through either
programme. In some cases we can even contribute to the training
costs of a Modern Apprenticeship. In return for your investment,
your people will become more capable, efficient, loyal and
motivated - all of which is good news for your bottom line.
Modern Apprenticeships and Skillseekers employee training can help
to improve your productivity and profits.
Modern Apprenticeships
Build your business from the inside, by helping employees to
expand their knowledge and skills. Whether or not you already have
in-house training in place, our Modern Apprenticeships programme
can boost your staff development efforts by providing a structure
for the vocational training of employees aged 16 to 19.
Modern Apprenticeships are available in a number of sectors, with
the format of training decided by the appropriate Sector Skills
Council for that sector. Trainees are generally encouraged to
progress through the various levels of qualification available,
although this isn't the only focus of the vocational training.
Modern Apprenticeships also instil in trainees a range of 'soft
skills' around communication, teamwork and problem solving, as well
as improved numerical and IT skills.
All trainees must be in employment to participate. The programme is
free to the trainee, and we can provide funding towards training
costs. You will still have to contribute towards the training costs
- and cover the employee's usual wages - but in return for your
investment you'll improve productivity, and attract and retain
better staff.
Employer Recruitment Incentive
Employers who offer Modern Apprenticeships to young people who
may otherwise find it difficult to secure a job or Modern
Apprenticeship can now receive £1000 towards their
training costs.
Skillseekers
Skillseekers training is very flexible and can be adapted to any
sector. Employees aged 16 to 19 can enrol on Skillseekers training,
and Skillseekers training is also available to individuals not
currently in employment.
Our vocational training helps to provide young people with improved
practical skills by helping them to achieve an SVQ or NVQ Level 2
or 3 qualification. Skillseekers trainees are supported by a
learning provider and work through various units towards a
qualification in their own time.
It costs nothing for your employees to take part in Skillseekers
vocational training, and you need only continue to pay their usual
wages, so you might even save on in-house training costs. In return
for encouraging staff development through Skillseekers, you'll
attain a workforce that's better equipped to meet customer demands
and compete in the market.
