The Get Ready for Work and Training for Work
programme equips individuals with all the skills they need to
kick-start a career in your industry.
If you're considering recruiting new staff, find out how a Get
Ready for Work participant could enhance your business by offering
a temporary work experience placement in your organisation. A
learning provider will support the young person throughout,
ensuring that you both achieve what you want from the
experience.
The Training for Work programme, meanwhile, offers you the
chance to source new recruits who have improved their skills to
meet your industry's specific needs. Cut your recruitment costs and
gain highly motivated employees who will arrive on day one with
up-to-date, relevant skills already in place.

Get Ready for Work
The Get Ready for Work programme is open to young people aged 16
to 19 who need a little help in preparing to enter the world of
work.
A Get Ready for Work learning provider and Skills Development
Scotland personal adviser will work with each participant for up to
six months to help improve their skills, fill any gaps and boost
their employability skills. They are then given a placement in
order to put what they have learned into practice.
The benefits to your business are clear. As well as complementing
your corporate social responsibility policy, the Get Ready for Work
programme can help you to reduce recruitment costs.
The learning provider will discuss your needs closely with you
before sourcing a suitable participant to step into the post you
have in mind. Following the free trial period, you can then opt to
employ the trainee permanently - avoiding the expense of
advertising the vacancy or employing a recruitment agency.
Training for Work
The Training for Work initiative provides vocational skills
training to anyone over the age of 18 who has been continuously
unemployed for 13 weeks (there are exceptions to this - some can
enter the programme immediately) and who needs to improve their
skills to find work.
When recruiting new employees, it makes sense to partner with the
Training for Work initiative. Because training can be tailored to
exactly meet your recruitment needs, you can be sure of acquiring a
highly motivated candidate who is ready, willing and able to step
straight into the role, reducing both your recruitment and training
costs.
