- PACE redundancy support
The Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) is the
Scottish Government's initiative dedicated to helping individuals
and employers with advice and support when faced with
redundancy.
The PACE Partnership, which includes the Scottish Government,
Skills Development Scotland, Business Gateway and Jobcentre Plus,
with other partners, responds to redundancy situations through
providing skills development and employability support to minimise
the time people affected are out of work.
Redundancy support for individuals
Individuals can find out more about PACE support on My World of Work.
Redundancy support for employers
Employers can call the employer helpline on 0800
783 6000 to arrange for a local PACE adviser to call
them back.
How PACE can help
- support to help employers consider alternatives to
redundancies, providing options to retrain to retain staff. Where
this isn't possible impartial advice is available on the best
approach when it comes to making redundancies
- a PACE adviser can sit down with employees who are facing
redundancy to discuss their next steps
- they can provide information about government funded training,
a specialist career planning service, help in writing a CV and
coaching for interviews.
- they can direct people affected by redundancy to other useful
agencies, including local organisations that provide advice on
managing debt and setting up in business.
Making sensible decisions around redundancy with the guidance of
Skills Development Scotland will not only help employers to support
employees affected by the changes - it could also help employers
keep their reputation intact and their business afloat.
