The Financial Services Skills
Gateway has launched re:think, a new website that
is the place to go to find out about working in the financial
services industry in Scotland.
With a combination of case studies and videos from people
working in the financial services industry in Scotland, the site
showcases the wide variety of roles available and helps people
discover more about some of Scotland's key financial services
employers. It also provides information on the range of
opportunities available to those with different levels of
qualifications and experience, from school leavers and young
graduates to those with a bit more work experience.
re:think will help financial services employers attract talented
people. It will also help young people identify and develop the
skills needed for a career in the industry.
The site forms an important part of the Financial Services
Skills Gateway's wider programme of activity to take Scotland's
financial services talent to world class levels by directly
matching skills provision to the needs and priorities of Scotland's
financial services sector.
SDS Chief Executive Damien Yeates says:
"Scotland has a long-established reputation in financial
services and we hope to strengthen that by attracting and retaining
existing and emerging talent.
"The development of the website has been employer-led, this was
key to allowing us to include an abundance of information on the
site that gives people a realistic insight in to the industry while
also showing what a dynamic place it is to work."
He added: "However, the website is just one part of the Gateway
and I look forward to this initiative progressing as it aspires to
boost the financial services industry and, contribute to
strengthening the Scottish economy."
More Quotes:
"As the
representative body for Scotland's financial services industry, we
welcome the launch of re:think. The website will help our member
organisations attract and recruit people with the skills needed to
keep the industry thriving in Scotland. It will be particularly
helpful to young people, providing information and insight that
will help them make choices to support a career in the financial
services industry."
Owen Kelly, Chief Executive, Scottish Financial Enterprise
"Many
thousands of people are employed in financial services across
Scotland in a really wide variety of roles. The public might
imagine that these are dull jobs, but the new re:think website
shatters that view. It also makes clear that there are great
opportunities for people who are thinking about their career
choices and provides a single source of help and advice."
David Thorburn, Chair, Financial Services Skills Gateway
"An easy
to access website that brought clarity to Financial Services and
every day life. I am sure it will be a great resource for learners
who wish to follow Financial Services as a career."
