At a recent Institute of Career Guidance (ICG) event at the
Scottish Parliament a number of Skills Development Scotland
colleagues were presented with the Post Graduate Diploma in Career
Guidance and Development by John Park MSP.
At the event Danny Logue, Operations Director, delivered a
presentation and announced that Skills Development Scotland had
signed up as an organisation to the CREATE Campaign for Careers.
The Campaign was launched earlier this year by Dr Deirdre Hughes,
ICG President, to raise the profile of high quality careers
work.
The Campaign is aimed at politicians, policy makers, lobbyists,
employers and practitioners. By signing up for the Campaign, Skills
Development Scotland endorses the key messages underpinning the
CREATE concept:
C: careers services in the UK that
maximise individuals' talents and skills
R: realising everyone's potential through
universal, targeted and high quality careers provision with
consistent standards across the UK
E: entitlement to impartial careers
information, advice and guidance
A: access to well-trained and qualified
careers professionals at times and places most relevant to
individual needs
T: tangible results demonstrating that
professional careers work contributes to employment, social
mobility, diversity and equality
E: excellence in careers services, equipping
individuals with confidence and resilience to succeed in a
fast-changing global economy
The key messages all link closely to Skills Development
Scotland's Corporate Goal - 'Enable people to fulfil their
potential'. The success of the Campaign will be through careers
work remaining high on policy makers' agendas and that the
campaign's strong and consistent core messages are understood and
acted upon by key decision makers and investors in careers.
You can sign up as an individual to support the campaign via the
ICG web site at www.icg-uk.org. There is
also a Facebook group supporters can join.
