Skills in Focus event,15 July 2011

Professors David Ashton and Johnny Sung are internationally renowned experts on workforce development. In the first Skills in Focus event, they bring their expertise and knowledge to bear on:

  • the relationship between skills and productivity, and
  • the links between companies' product market strategies and their skills utilisation.

They conclude that there is a strong sectoral dimension in the relationship between skills and productivity, and that policy initiatives need to incorporate this. They also stress that any attempts to influence which skills companies require and how skilled workers are deployed must address not only a company's product market strategy but also its competitive strategy.

Presentations and papers from this event are available to download on this page. Videos clips can be found towards the foot of the page.
