Skills Development Scotland (SDS)
supports employers to use skills development for growth and
The web service Our Skillsforce helps businesses
recruit, develop and plan their workforce. It contains national and
local information on the skills support available from public
sector organisations in Scotland. This includes a range of funding
for business and financial assistance.
Our Skillsforce has a Skills Alert feature so that employers can
flag their specific skills needs and be assisted to the best
package of support available.
SDS also delivers tailored support. Working with
partners, SDS supports inward investment and sectoral growth
as well as assisting local businesses, large and small, to benefit
from a wide range of funding programmes. These programmes include
Apprenticeships, Employer Recruitment
Incentives, Flexible Training
Opportunities, the Energy Skills Challenge
Fund and the Low Carbon Skills Fund.
SDS makes sure its understands employer and industry issues
both to shape services to individuals and to provide career
management related information to customers. SDS also
works with employers and industry groups to articulate and
prioritise skills development needs in sectors, through joint
production of Skills Investment Plans and Skills Action Plans.
